Every Minute

Every minute you're alive and taking a breath Someone else is experiencing either life or death Like the new born baby girl weighing seven pounds Or the lung cancer victim being buried in the ground Every second someone laughs and sheds a tear Either overwhelmed with joy or consumed by fear Everywhere, every second people are dying And at the same time you may hear a new baby cryingWhy is it that we don't realize how precious life isUntil one of us are burying one of our kids? Why is it that we think of death as an event so far awayWhen we see the truth so clearly every single day?The cycle of life and death keeps repeating itselfAnd the next person to go may in fact be someone elseBut truthfully none of us have a solid guaranteeNone of us have a way of knowing when our last day will beThat last second when you took a breath of airSome new baby girl or boy was born somewhereA doctor and multitude of nurses were most likely strivingTo teach that baby that air is vital in them survivingThat last second when you took a deep breathSome family was grieving over a loved ones deathThe reason... they may not quite understandBut eventually they'll see life and death go hand in handThe cycle of life and death keeps repeating itselfAnd the next person to go may in fact be someone elsePeople may tell us that we're so alive and healthyBut truthfully none of us have a solid guarantee
